Hair loss is an issue that many adult men and women face throughout their lives. Some may find this problem to be embarrassing and struggle to find a way to best deal with the problem. The first way to deal with the issue of hair loss is to explore what can cause an individual to bald.

While many people assume that hair loss is simply something passed down from generation to generation, there are many other reasons that can lead to baldness, while heredity plays a large part, it is important to explore the other causes too. Each case has a definite cause and once you can pinpoint what is causing yours you can effectively treat the problem from there.

Causes

There are some causes which are temporary, such as having a major surgical procedure. Often times a person will start losing hair three to four months after major surgery. The stress of the illness and procedure is the direct cause of the hair loss and is temporary. If this is the cause of your hair loss than you will simply have to wait for your hair to grow back through its normal cycle. While you may be impatient waiting, you can take comfort in knowing that the problem is temporary and will solve itself.

Other illnesses, conditions, or medications can cause people to bald. Thyroid problems can cause baldness and this hair loss can often be helped by the treatment of the thyroid condition, pregnancy may also cause the loss of hair, fungal infections, diseases such as lupus or diabetes, and certain medications can also be the cause for it. These types of hair loss can be considered a temporary condition and can be treated through changing medication or the treatment of the specific condition causing the hair loss.

The type of baldness in which heredity plays a key role in is referred to as common patterned baldness. This type of baldness is more permanent and affects men and women differently. Men with male-patterned baldness often have receding hair lines. This will affect the blood flow to the scalp, causing hair to fall out. Women with female-patterned baldness will have thinning all over their scalp. This type of baldness while more permanent is also treatable, though it may take many different tries at finding a solution that works for you, it is important to remember that it can be treated.

A solution

Whatever the cause of your hair loss, it is important to find the cause before starting treatment. Hair shedding can be the early warning sign for many chronic diseases and paying attention to this can help in early detection of these diseases. Also, realizing that certain situations in your life can lead to hair loss can allow for you to not take measures that are too drastic in order to correct the problem. Knowing the cause can lead you on the path to finding the right solution so starting there is imperative. Find the cause and remember - most causes are treatable.
